Coventry City and Sky Blues in the Community will be showing their support for International Women’s Day at our game against Rochdale this Saturday.

International Women’s Day, which takes places on March 8 each year, is marked by thousands of events held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements.

The 2016 campaign theme is ‘Pledge for Parity’. Everyone - men and women - can pledge to take a concrete step to help achieve gender parity more quickly - whether to help women and girls achieve their ambitions, call for gender-balanced leadership, respect and value difference, develop more inclusive and flexible cultures or root out workplace bias. For more information, please visit internationalwomensday.com

To mark the day, Sky Blues in the Community will be showcasing their ‘In It Together’ project on the pitch at half-time, with a demonstration of what the project involves for those taking part.

This project provides a range of free activities and fitness opportunities for women at a number of community centres across Coventry in an informal way – with no commitment or cost for those taking part.

Centres which are hosting the weekly sessions are John White Community Centre, Daimler Green Community Centre, St Augustine’s Sport Centre and Tile Hill Wood Leisure Centre.

The sessions, which are for females only, give women an opportunity to try out a range of fitness and sporting activities on a weekly basis, while encouraging women to have fun and socialise whilst getting active together. Sessions will be running throughout the rest of the year, with the project funded by Sport England and Public Health Coventry. Click here for more information.
