The Sky Blues boss says that he hopes to announce a new striker who is a former Premier League player...

Coventry City boss Tony Mowbray has confirmed that the club are expecting to announce a new striker subject to medical.

Mowbray said that the new player will be a striker who has played in the Premier League and with a medical taking place shortly, the signing should be announced tonight.

"I think I'm pretty certain the new striker will be subject to medical," Mowbray said.

"There should be no problems. He will bring a bit more physicality, he played in the Premier League two years ago, he'll help the group and the squad and he's been training with us for a week.

"Hopefully he'll be the right personality to help the young lads in the side.

"We're looking to try and improve things bit by bit. We're not in a position to be loaded up with loads of cash, we have to pick very carefully. He's the right sort."
