McGoldrick awarded York goal in JPT

30 October 2012

The City striker awarded second goal against York City by Football League...

Coventry City striker David McGoldrick has had the third Coventry City goal against York City rewarded to him by the Football League.

The Sky Blues won the game 4-0 to continue their run in the Johnstone Paint Trophy.

Initially, McGoldrick's second goal was awarded as an Jamel Byfield own goal after the Forest loanee's shot was deflected in off the York midfielder.

The Football League have now judged that McGoldrick's shot was goal-bound before Byfield's deflection so it has been officially awarded to the City striker.

This means the 24-year old has now scored nine goals in 15 appearances for Coventry.

He commented after the match: "I have definitely scored two goals tonight. I have just seen that the second one was given as an own goal.

"But it was definitely going in before. The defender had tried to clear it but it has gone in meaning it is my goal.

"I'm sure when they look at it again, they will see it was my goal."
