Coventry City rounded off their pre-season campaign with a 0-0 draw against Oxford United.
City's final pre-season clash saw new signing Adam Armstrong make his Sky Blues bow but while he was lively, City couldn't produce the winner of a scrappy affair.
The Sky Blues started brightly and Armstrong was lively up front, creating the first chance when he burned his man on the left and found a cross which an Oxford defender got a last ditch touch on to stop a tap in for James Maddison.
But it was United who had the best chances, the first came when Sam Slocombe smashed an effort from 25-yards which took a massive deflection onto the underside of the bar. Danny Hylton tapped in but he was clearly offside inside the area so the linesman didn't hesitate to raise his flag.
The League Two side should have had the lead on 33 minutes as they broke from a City corner and it was three-on-one, Kemar Roofe played it to Slocombe at the far post but somehow Romain Vincelot sprinted back from the opposing penalty area to get an unbelievable last ditch challenge in.
Danny Swanson then limped off just before the break and was replaced by Devon Kelly-Evans and that was the last of the first-half.
Oxford then almost had the lead just a minute after the break, Lee Burge made a fabulous save to deny Pat Hoban from 20-yards, he got a fingertip onto the shot to divert it onto the post.
They then had a penalty when Ryan Haynes, who had replaced Chris Stokes just two minutes earlier, brought down Kemar Roofe in the area. Hylton stepped up, but his penalty was woeful, he smashed it well over the bar and City were safe.
Armstrong was then denied as City looked better after the penalty scare, as Ruben Lameiras played him in with a lovely ball but the loanee's left footed effort was well saved by Sam Slocombe.
But the woodwork came to City's rescue for a third time, when former Sky Blue Josh Ruffels smashed an effort from 20-yards against the right-hand post.
Aaron Phillips then came on for the tireless Romain Vincelot, with Ben Stevenson and Jack Finch coming on shortly after for John Fleck and debutant Armstrong.
Dion Kelly-Evans and Ivor Lawton also got run outs as they replaced Jordan Willis and Maddison. But it was a poor game as City look ahead to Wigan at the Ricoh Arena next week.
