Sky Blues trail to Ntlhe opener

12 April 2014

Coventry City go into the break a goal down to Peterborough at London Road...

Coventry City go into the break trailing Peterborough 1-0 after an early headed opener from Kgosi Ntlhe at London Road.

City boss Steven Pressley made two changes to his side for the clash with Posh, bringing in Cyrus Christie and Anton Robinson to replace Dan Seaborne and Carl Baker.

The Sky Blues gave themselves a task early on though when the home side got themselves in front after just five minutes.

Danny Swanson's first touch from a crossfield ball took him around Jordan Willis who had to put the ball behind. Swanson then delivered an outswinger from the resulting corner which picked out Nthle to power a header home from six yards.

Jack Baldwin then went close for Peterborough after 15 minutes when a clearance dropped to him 25 yards out which he hit on the volley. The effort looped over Joe Murphy but dropped just wide of the post.

The Sky Blues got their first effort of the afternoon on target after 21 minutes though when Nathan Eccleston wriggled his way down the byline and cut back before shooting from a tight angle, Bobby Olejnik parrying the effort away for the hosts.

City went close again eight minutes before the break when deep delivery at the back post from Mark Marshall found Cyrus Christie whose glancing header flashed just wide.
