MATCH REPORT: Coventry City U18s 1-1 Huddersfield Town U18s - Jason Farndon praises Jake Richards in Terriers draw

Jordan Shipley's first-half strike not enough for Sky Blues who are held at home by table-topping Huddersfield Town...

Coventry City Under-18s were held at the Alan Higgs Centre by table-topping Huddersfield Town.

The Sky Blues went into the game full of confidence having recorded a 2-1 win over Birmingham City last week, to go second in the table and close the gap on the Terriers.

Jordan Shipley, who scored the second against the Blues a week ago, continued his goal-scoring form as he took the ball from his own half, got past several Huddersfield Town defenders and fired home in spectacular fashion from 25 yards in the 37th minute.

The Sky Blues were pegged back in the second-half by Rekeil Pyke and the league-leaders held out to claim a point at the Alan Higgs Centre.

The result puts the Sky Blues on 32 points in second position in the table with Huddersfield topping the table on 37 points, even though City have two games in hand.

City Under-18s coach Jason Farndon said: "We were excellent first-half and fully deserved to take the lead.

"If we're being honest, we hung on at times in the second-half and it was a shame to concede the goal via a mistake but these things happen.

"Jake Richards was outstanding in goal, he made five great saves to keep us in it and Cian Harries continued his great form.

"I was really impressed with Ben Stevenson in the middle of the park and it's a good point against a good side."
