A brace from Bassala Sambou secures victory in the second round of the FA Youth Cup at Nuneaton Town's Liberty Way...
Coventry City claim a third round berth in the FA Youth Cup as City secure a comfortable 2-0 victory against Crewe Alexandra.
The Sky Blues rarely looked troubled at Liberty Way as they cruised into the third round of the FA Youth Cup, where they'll play Stoke City.
Bassala Sambou continued his impressive goal-scoring exploits with a first-half brace which put City in firm control of the affair.
It didn't take long before City had their first chance. With just three minutes on the clock, Sambou's header was well saved from a Chris Camwell cross before Dan Smith went close 10 minutes later from a corner, but his effort was blocked by Jamie Wilkinson.
Mid-way through the first-half, Sambou burst into life. He raced clear on both occasions to slide the ball under Crewe keeper Kieran Harrison to put City 2-0 up.
It should have been three before the break. In the 37th minute, Camwell's left-sided cross found Tom Bayliss in the middle but he failed to hit the target.
Crewe had spells where they threatened but City always looked the more likely. Sambou should have claimed his hat-trick when Smith found him in the six-yard area but the keeper pulled off an incredible reaction stop in the 66th minute.
Ainley hit the bar for Crewe three minutes later before Smith curled his effort well wide after good work down the left with 20 minutes remaining.
In the final stages, Camwell found the impressive Kyle Finn at the back post but he could only volley the powerful cross over the bar in the final action of the game.
