A brace from Adam Armstrong and a Marc-Antoine Fortune strike sealed a comfortable 3-0 win for Coventry City over Shrewsbury Town.
Armstrong netted with a great finish before Fortune scored a penalty on the stroke of half-time on his home debut for the club. Armstrong netted again in the second-half to round off a resounding win.
In a game that saw Reice-Charles Cook make his first league start for the club, the first-half was largely a tale of penalties, sandwiched between Armstrong's opener.
City were denied three penalties, the first came after just a minute when Ryan Kent was brought down on the left-hand side but Christopher Sarginson was unmoved.
Kent then had a second appeal waved away when the Liverpool loanee again beat the backline after 18 minutes and surged in on goal, but was involved in a tussle with Liam Lawrence and the referee gave a corner.
Former Sky Blues Jermaine Grandinson then leant on Armstrong as he got free on the left but once more, despite the Ricoh Arena's cries, a penalty was not given.
But just four minutes later, Armstrong had his goal. Fortune produced some excellent hold-up play before shimmying past his man and laying off the Newcastle loanee who confidently struck a left-footed effort from 20-yards into the bottom right corner to hand the Sky Blues a deserved advantadge.
Just before the half-time whistle, Sarginson finally gave the Sky Blues a spot-kick as the excellent Fortune was hauled to the floor by Nathaniel Knight-Percival. The 34-year old stepped up to confident slot the ball in the bottom right corner to double the home side's lead and net his first for the club.
The second-half was a fairly routine affair for Tony Mowbray's men and Armstrong had his second on 65 minutes. Fortune got another assist as he drove towards the area, layed off Armstrong who smashed a high left-footed effort into the roof of the net from 12-yards out.
Armstrong did get close to a hat-trick with minutes to go, as he beat three defenders before a turn of pace saw him get to the edge of the area, but he hit a left-footed drive wide.
But that was it for the Sky Blues who remain unbeaten at the Ricoh Arena this campaign.
