Coventry City

The Sky Blues found themselves 3-0 down before Nick Proschwitz's first for the club gave them a small glimmer of hope, but it wasn't enough to quell a disappointing day at the Ricoh Arena which means that if the Sky Blues get a result at Crawley they will be safe.

City started excellently and the first real chance came after just ten minutes when Chris Stokes' cross from the left was headed across the face by Proschwitz and Jim O'Brien struck the ball at the back-post from two-yards but Paul Rachubka sprung to his right to make a brilliant stop.

But it was Crewe who took the lead against the run of play on 23 minutes as Ryan Colclough picked the ball up on the left and drove into the area where he crossed for Lauri Dalla Valle to bundle the ball over the line from six-yards out.

The Alex grew into the game and had the second when Jamie Jones whipped in a free-kick which was poorly defended and George Ray knocked the ball across the box for Colclough to tap in.

The rest of the first-half was a scrappy affair and at the break, Adam Barton was replaced by James Maddison and Aaron Martin came on for Matthew Pennington.

Understandably, the visitors stuck every man behind the ball as they looked to hold their lead and Frank Nouble hit the side netting from close range and Jim O'Brien blasted one over from range as City struggled to create chances.

Sanmi Odelusi came on and then went close as John Fleck flicked Grant Ward's long-ball into his path and the substitute hit a sweet volley which Rachubka did well to keep out.

But Crewe caught City on the break and on 72 minutes it was 3-0. A great through ball from Anthony Grant 30-yards out found Oliver Turton on the right and his cross was easily headed in at the back post by Marcus Haber.

With six minutes to go the Sky Blues did get one back as O'Brien's wonderful ball in from the right was headed in by Proschwitz from six-yards.
