Coventry City Under-21s were beaten 2-1 by Birmingham City at Wast Hills.

Shaun Miller netted the Sky Blues' goal in the second-half but it wasn't enough for City to take a point away from the game.

The first real action came after eight minutes, when goalkeeper Lee Burge made a great save, palming away Jonathan Spector's low effort from 25-yards.

Burge was called into action once more as he made another tremendous save shortly after, this time a fabulous one-handed stop to deny Callum Reilly.

But the hosts had the lead just before the break when Reece Brown turned in the area and fired a low shot into the corner.

After the interval, Ivor Lawton had to go off with a dead leg and was replaced by Under-18s midfielder Callum Maycock.

Kobe Arthur then hit the post but the Sky Blues were level at the other end just 30 seconds later.

An excellent run and pass from Thomas found Miller and the striker turned two defenders and side footed into the corner inside the area on 53 minutes.

But Birmingham re-took the lead against the run of play, when Viv Soloman-Otabor smashed an effort from 20-yards past Burge.

City should have been level when Thomas and Miller combined again as the Under-18s striker released Miller in on goal, but Nick Townsend did well to save his flicked effort in the area.

Sky Blues stopper Burge was then called into action again, as he made a super double save as he parried Kobe Arthur's first effort inside the box and sharply denied the winger from the rebound.

But that was the last action as City were defeated 2-1 by their local rivals, with the next game for the Under-21s an away trip to Barnsley.
