Venue: Sixfields
Kick-off: 3pm
Date: Saturday, April 5th
Competition: SkyBet League One

Coventry welcome MK Dons to Sixfields looking to stretch their unbeaten run to four matches.

The Sky Blues claimed a point against Bradford City in midweek to edge further away from the relegation zone.

City beat Stevenage and Crewe Alexandra previous to the point against the Bantams so they will be looking to continue their solid form.

Since establishing themselves as MK Dons in 2004, the Buckinghamshire side have seen varying degrees of success.

Despite winning the League Two championship and the Football League trophy in 2008, they are more accustomed to heartbreak, losing out in the play-offs on no more than four occasions.

The Dons’ are again targeting promotion to the Championship. Karl Robinson utilised the loan market in the summer, bringing in the likes of Patrick Bamford who scored 14 goals in 22 appearances for the Dons during his loan spell from Chelsea, which ended in January.

The season started off well, going unbeaten in their first seven league games, but have since been inconsistent which has restricted their promotion challenge this season.

MK Dons are currently in 9th position in League One and still have a chance of the play-offs but they need to improve their recent form of three losses in the last four matches.

The Gaffer

A man who looks to have a bright future ahead of him, Karl Robinson is fast gaining a reputation as one of the Football League’s brightest young managers.

Born in Liverpool, 33 year-old Robinson played non-league football for the majority of his career, before getting his first coaching role at Blackburn Rovers, under Paul Ince.

He followed Ince to MK Dons, and when Ince was sacked in 2010, Robinson succeeded him, and became the youngest manager in the Football League at 29.

Robinson has steered the Dons to the League One play-offs twice since taking charge, losing in the semi-finals both times but he is hoping to get the Dons over the line this season.

Last season was the first time that the two teams have met. Coventry remain unbeaten having shared a 1-1 draw at home and recording a 3-2 win at the stadium:MK last season.

City's dominance over MK Dons continued this season when Chris Maguire scored two fantastic free-kicks in the final ten minutes to secure an impressive 3-1 win.

Previous Fixtures:

30/11/13 - MK Dons 1-3 Coventry City, League One
29/12/12 – MK Dons 2–3 Coventry City, League One
02/10/12 – Coventry City 1–1 MK Dons, League One

Dele Alli

A product of the MK Dons Academy, Alli has enjoyed an impressive break-through season with the Dons.

Alli has made 32 appearances for the side this season, scoring six goals in all competitions, including an impressive hat-trick in a recent 3-1 win at Notts County.

The 17-year old has already made an impression at national level having made several appearances for the England Under-17s side and he could be in line for a call-up to the England Under-19 side soon.

Alli seems to have a bright future ahead of him with plenty of Premier League clubs already looking at the youngster.

Two strikers have worn the Sky Blue and White kits over the years: Clinton Morrison and Clive Platt.

Morrison played 91 times for the Sky Blues’ between 2008 and 2010, scoring 21 goals for the club, whilst famously playing in his ‘one plus nine’ shirt (Morrison wanted the number ten, but the number was already taken, therefore he wore a shirt with a plus sign between his squad number of 19).

Platt also played for two years for the Sky Blues, scoring 7 goals in 67 games. He had more success whilst playing for the Dons’ earlier in his career, finding the net 27 times in 102 appearances. Coincidentally, both players have also played for Colchester United.
