Coventry City continue their pre-season tour of Italy this evening as they face Greek SuperLeague side AEL Kalloni at the Molveno training ground at 6pm local time (5pm UK time).
The Sky Blues go into the game having lost against Chievo Verona yesterday as three first-half goals from Christano Biraghi, Tomasz Kupisz and Sergio Pellissier sealed a 3-0 win for the Serie A side.
Steven Pressley's side face another difficult test against AEL Kalloni as they continue their preparations for the 2013/14 League One season.
Overview
Having only played professional football since 2010, AEL Kalloni's recent success has been a true tale of the underdog succeeding against all the odds.
The club was founded 20 years ago and have spent the vast majority of their short history in the local leagues of the Greek islands of Lesbos. The club were promoted to the Greek Football League 2 (3rd tier) in 2010, signalling their first season of professional football.
Due to financial difficulties, five teams were relegated from the Football League 1 and having achieved 2nd place in the League, AEL Kalloni were promoted to the second tier.
Kalloni spent two seasons in the 2nd tier before winning the play-offs in the 2012/13 season to gain promotion to the Greek SuperLeague.
Whilst many clubs in Greece have suffered financial difficulties over recent years, AEL Kalloni's rise in Greek football has been model for others to aspire to with the side finishing 12th in the top tier last season.
Who to watch
Henri Camara
The former Senegalese international has been enjoying the twlight of his career in Greece, having signed for AEL Kalloni in May.
The 37-year old moved to Greece in 2010 where he signed for Greek SuperLeague side Atromitos. The former Celtic forward failed to find form at Atromitos and moved to Panetolikos after just one season.
Camara made over 100 appearances for Panetolikos, scoring 27 league goals over a three-year spell, as he continued the goal-scoring form he often showed in English football for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Southampton and Wigan Athletic.
Camara could feature against City tonight as he prepares for the 2014/15 season with his new club and despite spending seven years in English football, it will be the first time he will have played against the Sky Blues.
Leozinho
The former Vasco da Gama midfielder has achieved cult hero status at AEL Kalloni having made over 100 appearances for the Greek side.
Having started his career in Brazil, the 28-year old moved to Greek giants Olympiacos in 2007 but failed to make an appearance for the current Greek champions.
Leozinho enjoyed two loan spells at German side Eintracht Braunschweig and Greek side OFI Crete before he sealing a permanant switch to Apollon in 2008. After just one season with Apollon, Leozinho moved to Panserraikos where he had a successful two-year spell, making over 50 appearances and scoring 15 goals.
Leozinho moved to Kalloni in 2011 and helped the side gain promotion to the Greek SuperLeague in the 2012/13 season. The Brazilian playmaker scored six goals from midfield last season so he is definitely one player City's defence should keep their eye on.
