The City striker has also backed teammate Adam Armstrong to find the net in the weekend's game against Chesterfield...

Coventry City striker Marc Antoine-Fortune has put pressure on himself to break into the first-team ahead of the Chesterfield encounter tomorrow.

The Sky Blues welcome the Spireties to the Ricoh Arena tomorrow, for City's only home game during September.

City are currently fourth in the League One table and are unbeaten at home, beating Wigan Athletic and Crewe Alexandra, and drawing against Southend United.

Fortune, who joined the club on a free transfer this month, said that manager Tony Mowbray wasn't the only factor in him moving to the club.

The former Celtic striker said: "It's up to me to get fitter and show what I can do. My aim at the moment is to break into the first team and start for the club.

"The club is in a really good position and it wasn't just Tony Mowbray which made me want to come here. I had watched Coventry's games and liked what I saw.

"Obviously, the manager had a big impact on me coming here but it wasn't just that. I'm not stupid, I want to play in teams which will achieve and get promoted.

"I had offers from other clubs but they weren't right for me and I wanted to stay in England. It's a great opportunity for me."

There is plenty of competition for places in the forward areas at the Sky Blues with Adam Armstrong, Marcus Tudgay, George Thomas and Fortune vying to start up front.

Despite the competition, Fortune has backed young striker Adam Armstrong to return to the goal-scoring charts at the weekend.

He added: "A striker can sometimes go three or four months without scoring, and then finds his form and scores five in four games or something like that.

"That's part of the game for a striker and I'm sure Adam knows this. You've just got to be confident and trust in the ability you have.

"I'm sure he will do really well this season as you can tell the natural ability he has through the goals he has already scored."
