"We've created enough chances that on another day, we win the game comfortably." - Coventry City's Luke Williams

The Sky Blues striker says the team should go into Tuesday night's game full of confidence against Mark Robins' Scunthorpe United...

Coventry City striker Luke Williams believes the Sky Blues had enough chances to win the game at Deepdale against Preston North End.

The Sky Blues suffered defeat to 4th-placed PNE as Kevin Davies' 21st-minute header won the game for the home side.

City dominated the majority of the contest with Jim O'Brien and Frank Nouble going close, and John Fleck hit the bar in the final minute of the game.

Williams, who made his City debut against the Lilywhites, was frustrated at the full-time whistle after the 1-0 defeat at Deepdale.

The 21-year old said: "It was a difficult game against a really good Preston team and we only made it more difficult for ourselves when we went behind.

"I thought we played really well and responded well to going behind. We completely dominated the second-half and should have scored at least one.

"We've created enough chances that on another day, we win the game comfortably. They couldn't get up the pitch and that showed how good our performance was.

"We're going to take the positives from the game even though it was a loss but it is another important game on Tuesday night."

The Sky Blues face Scunthorpe United at the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday night as former manager Mark Robins returns for the first time since leaving the club in February 2012.

Williams, who had a spell on loan at Glanford Park earlier this season, admits he is looking forward to the game and hopes City can build on the performance.

He added: "It will be a really tough game as they've done really well this season but it will be good to see a few familiar faces.

"The manager there always treated me well during my time there and they've got a lot of talented players.

"We should go into the game with a lot of confidence though as not many teams come to Preston and dominate the way we have today.

"We just need to find the goals to go with our performances and as the new players, like myself, get used to the system, it will come."
