"I spoke to Seb Hines before I signed. There was no decision to make." - Coventry City's Luke Williams

The 21-year old hopes to contribute goals and assists during his time at the club and hopes to keep down a regular spot...

Coventry City's new signing Luke Williams admitted he spoke to former loanee Seb Hines before signing for the Sky Blues.

The 21-year old, who will wear the No. 8 shirt during his time at the club, signed for Steven Pressley's side on transfer deadline day.

Williams trained with his new team-mates for the first time today as the squad prepare to face Preston North End at Deepdale this weekend.

The Middlesbrough-born forward hopes to contribute goals and assists during his time at the club, and that he wants a regular starting spot.

Williams said: "I was delighted to get the deal over the line and it was the first time I've been involved in a transfer on deadline day so it was a new experience.

"I was at Scunthorpe earlier in the season and it was great for my development. I got a few games under my belt and that's exactly what I want to do here.

"I'm a good attacking player and I like to bring a lot going forward, goals and assists. I like to play up front and as a No.10 behind the striker.

"I want to establish myself in the team as quickly as possible really. I came here to play games and as long as I'm on the pitch, I'm happy."

Williams has already played in League One this season having played six times for Scunthorpe United on loan, scoring two goals for Mark Robins' side.

The Boro Academy graduate admitted there were a few clubs in for him but said there wasn't a decision to make when he found out City were interested.

He added: "There were a few clubs in for me but I spoke to Seb Hines who was here before on loan and he told me about the club and what it is all about.

"It is a really big club with great supporters and when I heard Coventry were interested in me, there wasn't a decision to make really.

"Goals are a big thing I want to add to my game because that's what you get judged on most.

"Hopefully, if I can play and can get the games, I can help the club move up the league and have a good second half to the season."
