'Leon Clarke's a major doubt' - Pressley

27 January 2014

City boss Steven Pressley has also confirmed he has brought George Thomas into the squad for the Orient trip...

Coventry City striker Leon Clarke is a 'major doubt' for the League One clash against Leyton Orient.

The City striker played the entire 90 minutes against Arsenal but picked up an foot injury during the second half having been caught late by defender Laurent Koscielny after his close-range shot was saved by goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Clarke missed training today and the City manager has confirmed Academy player George Thomas will travel to the Matchroom Stadium in the squad tomorrow.

Pressley said: "Leon is a doubt for the game tomorrow. He injured the heel in his foot during the Arsenal game.

"It is genuine injury and I would expect that to be the case. I have asked him to be professional and I'm sure that's the case.

"He is a major doubt for tomorrow's game so we have had to look around the squad for options. George Thomas is a player who we are considering to feature.

"Everyone else in the side is fine as everyone came through the Arsenal game unscathed."

Sky Blues striker Callum Wilson is still out recovering from his shoulder injury sustained against Rotherham on New Year's Day.

The Coventry-born striker started running again today and Pressley says his recovery is positive.

He added: "He is doing really well with his recovery. He is out there running again now and seems to be happy with the way it is going.

"He is around five weeks away now because he is working extremely hard to make sure he comes into the fold as soon as possible.

"He's obviously frustrated but he is got the bit between his teeth."
