West Midlands Assistant Chief Constable has nothing but good to say about Sky Blues in the Community project

Sky Blues in the Community were paid a welcome visit on Tuesday night by West Midlands Assistant Chief Constable Garry Forsyth who heaped praise on SBitC's Kickz project.

The project run at the AT7 Leisure Centre, on Bell Green Lane, allows youngsters between the age of 12-19 an opportunity to participate in sport and take a step on the ladder towards sporting qualifications as well as build relationships with the local police force.

Run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Kickz has engaged with more than 450 youngsters in Coventry since the club became the 44th Premier League or Football League club to launch the national scheme.

ACC Forsyth said: "It's been fantastic to see the sheer number as well as range and spread of youngsters that are engaging through this programme.

"It's my first time visiting Coventry and from our perepective Kickz is a fantastic way of giving youths an activity as a diversionary tactic but also in breaking down barriers and building relationships with our officers to be able to provide effective policing.

"Youth engagement schemes like Kickz have been incredibly productive in terms of building relationships and engaging with people on the streets where it's extremely important to do so."
