"We've had the most difficult start of the season in the league. Positive signs to build on." - Coventry City's Josh McQuoid

The City striker was happy to be on the score-sheet and backs himself to score goals throughout the season...

Coventry City striker Josh McQuoid believes the Sky Blues have had 'one of the most difficult starts to a season' after the 1-1 draw at Swindon Town.

The Sky Blues went ahead in the first-half after a quick break-away and McQuoid rounded Wes Foderingham to score five minutes before the break.

City had chances to go further ahead before Raphael Rossi-Branco headed home at the back-post in the 72nd minute to make sure both teams went home with a point.

Having drawn against Barnsley and MK Dons and beat Sheffield United, McQuoid believes the Sky Blues have had a strong start to the season and hopes to see the side build on the point.

The City striker said: "I thought we played well and we were really compact which meant it was difficult for them to break us down, much like we've been for most of the season.

"It was frustrating in the final third really as I thought we could have used the ball better but either side could have won the game and it was a really competitive second-half.

"You look at the teams we've played so far and you've got to say we've played teams who will probably be up there at the end of the season. It has probably been the most difficult start to the season.

"Not many teams come and get a point here. It is always a difficult place to come for any team so I think there are plenty of positive signs with this point."

It was McQuoid's second goal of the season after he scored against Barnsley in the 2-2 draw against the Tykes at Sixfields.

With Wycombe Wanderers in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday, McQuoid hopes he can continue to add to his tally and carry the momentum forward.

He added: "It is an important game for the club as it is a competition we go far in. It will be a difficult game for us as they're a good side.

"I'm hoping I can continue my goal-scoring. John Fleck looked like he was going to get on the end of it but luckily, it came through to me.

"I had a touch and then my touch after that was slightly heavy so it brought the keeper out but luckily I was able to get it past him to score.

"With the competition in the side, it is important to get goals so I'm happy I got mine today but it's a shame it wasn't the winner."
