'It isn't about performance' - Fleck

14 February 2014

City midfielder John Fleck also believes scoring goals isn't particularly important to the role he plays in the City side...

Coventry City midfielder John Fleck has dismissed the importance for a good performance against Bradford City, saying the game is all about the result.

The Sky Blues are currently in 12th position in the League One table, 11 points off the play-offs and seven points from the relegation zone.

The Bantams have won just one league match in 20 games having started this season well, breaching the play-off positions.

With the points crucial for both sides, Fleck is only focused on getting the win against Phil Parkinson's side.

The City midfielder said: "The game we played up in Bradford this season was probably one of the games of the season in terms of entertainment.

"It was a great atmosphere and it was a shame to concede a last minute goal but it was a good point from there.

"Tomorrow is all about the response from the Notts County game. It wasn't a good performance. We need to put that right.

"It isn't about performing tomorrow really. We could put in any performance but if it results in three points, then that's all that matters."

The 22-year old has already made 34 appearances this season, but is yet to score a goal for the Sky Blues this season.

His midfield partner Conor Thomas is also waiting for his first goal of the season but Fleck says it isn't a statistic they're worried about.

He added: "I know it is something people talk about but I'm not worried about it. It would be nice if I did get on the score-sheet.

"Conor is a great player and the manager tells us that he doesn't like us getting too far ahead of the ball.

"It helps us control the play but it means we rarely make any runs into the area so we can cancel out any counter-attacks.

"I've gone close a couple of times this season so I will trying if the opportunities arise but I'm not worried about it."
