'We can be proud' - Murphy

City goalkeeper Joe Murphy has praised City's second half showing against a strong Arsenal side...

Coventry City goalkeeper Joe Murphy believes the Sky Blues can be positve after the 4-0 defeat at Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round.

In the end, it was a relatively comfortable win for the home side with late goals from substitutes Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla adding to Lukas Podolski's first-half double.

However, the scoreline was slightly harsh on the Sky Blues as the side rallied in the second half and at times looked as though a way back may have been a distinct possibility with Leon Clarke denied twice, first by Lukasz Fabianski's legs and then the post.

The City keeper believes the players can be proud of their performance at the Premier League leaders.

Murphy said: "We can be really proud of our second half showing tonight. The lads came out and went at them.

"We made it competitive and it was a shame to see concede two goals in the first half as it could have been a different game.

"Hopefully, we can learn from the experience and now that we are out of the Cup, we can concentrate on the league."

The Sky Blues were backed by a brilliant 5,100 City fans at the Emirates Stadium tonight, and Murphy has thanked the fans for their support.

He added: "It definitely had an impact on the second half as every time we looked to come forward, they got behind us.

"It was a shame we couldn't get that goal for them but we have to move on from that. They are a very tough team to play against of course.

"They are very strong on the ball and the fitness levels these players show is incredible. To compete against them for much of the second period was great to see."
