"The plan is to be here come May with the club winning promotion and the title." - Coventry City's Joe Cole

The 34-year old has expressed a desire to stay with the Sky Blues after his current loan deal expires in January...

Coventry City midfielder Joe Cole has declared he wants to extend his stay with the Sky Blues after he won the November Goal of the Month.

The 34-year old midfielder secured the award for his incredible free-kick against Barnsley in the 4-3 win at the Ricoh Arena.

Cole had 43% of the vote and beat 13 other goals to the award with Ryan Kent's strike against Barnsley in second place and Jacob Murphy's first goal against Gillingham collecting bronze.

The former England international was delighted with the goal and he hopes to score more free-kicks during his time with the Sky Blues.

Cole said: "It was a great moment for me. It's always nice to score your first goal for your new club and I really enjoyed it.

"I've not really been in teams where I've taken free-kicks as I've played alongside people like Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and David Beckham.

"I'm looking forward to taking a few more now and hopefully score a few more free-kicks before the end of the season.

"There are a lot of goals from all around the pitch though, a lot of good, young attacking players and everyone is doing their bit at the moment."

The former Chelsea man returned to the Sky Blues first-team last Sunday after coming off the bench against Sheffield United and he's in contention to start against Oldham Athletic this weekend.

Having joined the club in October on loan from Aston Villa, Cole says he wants to be with the club in May, lifting the League One table.

He added: "I've been doing a lot of work. I've got to make sure I'm peaking for the games and training in a way which prepares me directly for Saturday.

"The plan is to be here come May with the club having a positive result, winning promotion or the title at the end of the season, having played 25 games for the club and been a part of it.

"It's a great club, great lads and I'm really enjoying every moment. The manager and coaches as well. It makes for a really nice place to come to work."
