The Sky Blues midfielder is also eager to return from the back injury which has kept him out of the squad in recent weeks...

Coventry City youngster James Maddison has admitted that his injury lay off has been "frustrating."

The 18-year old has been out with a back injury, with his last appearance coming in the 2-0 defeat to Doncaster on Boxing Day.

But Maddison is eager to return to the side and says he is working hard in order to make it happen.

"The injury has been frustrating," Maddison said.

"It's come at a bad time, it's the hardest thing about being a footballer.

"While it's a tough time I've got to work hard to get back. I'm doing my rehab and working hard on my programme to stop this back problem and hopefully I should be back in a few weeks or so.

"I'm raring to go, watching the lads train is killing me."

Despite being injured, Maddison is still at the Ryton training ground to receive treatment.

As a result, the City midfielder has met the new signings and revealed that their arrivals have helped create a buzz around the camp.

He added: "There is a real buzz around the place at the minute with the new signings.

"They really do give you that spirit - if that's the right word - I'm hoping that they can perform.

"Everyone has got a really good feeling and everyone is buzzing for Preston away. I'm hoping the new signings can help us win, they've all shown themselves to be excellent players in training and lets hope that continues."
