The Sky Blues midfielder wants to stay with the club and is eager for the side to finish the season strongly...

Coventry City midfielder Jack Finch is eager to win a new deal and continue his development with the club.

The 18-year old has broken into the Sky Blues squad this season and has made 19 appearances so far.

But the Academy graduate admitted that he is surprised how this season has gone personally for him and at the number of first-team appearances he has made.

"On a personal note of course I’d like to sign a new deal, hopefully the gaffer likes me!" Finch said.

"I would love to continue to develop here, I feel this is the right club for me. We’ll have to see but hopefully I can do well on the pitch and earn a new deal.

"There is lots of competition for places and I’m not going to stop working hard to keep my place.

"To be perfectly honest I haven’t expected the amount of exposure I’ve had this season. I don’t mean it in a negative way, my initial plan this campaign was to keep learning the game in the Under-21s and was hoping to prove myself there to be lucky enough to get some sub appearances.

“I was hoping to give myself a foundation to build on for next season, but it’s been absolutely incredible for me this season and the amount of games I’ve played."

Despite his exposure to first-team action, Finch still believes he needs to find out what sort of player he is.

Alongside that, the 18-year old wants to help the side to improve results, particularly at home, as he wants the team to end the season in good form.

He explained: “I enjoy playing at the Ricoh and we should be confident. I’m young and a local lad so I want to do well in front of home fans.

"I feel a pressure to an extent but I have got better. The Gillingham game was an incredible feeling when the final whistle went and Peterborough was another incredible day too - we have got it in our locker.

"We need more good moments at home and the atmosphere around the club will change with results. We all want to end the season well."
