"Reda Johnson needs to play more football. Adam Barton is a slight doubt for Colchester." - Coventry City's Steven Pressley

The City manager has confirmed that Adam Barton will train today ahead of tomorrow's game but the club will assess his injury...

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has confirmed midfielder Adam Barton will be a doubt for the weekend's clash against Colchester United.

The 23-year old midfielder, who has starred in Pressley's starting XI lately, suffered a collision with Academy goalkeeper Jake Richards in training on Tuesday.

Danny Pugh and Jordan Willis will miss the weekend's game as Pugh continues his recovery from an ankle injury and Willis picked up a hamstring tear against Notts County.

Pressley said: "Adam Barton is suffering from a nasty dead leg at the moment. He went in for a challenge on Tuesday and it was a nasty collision so we've had to monitor that.

"He is a slight doubt although I hope he will train today but we don't know how he will come through it. Everybody else who has been fit in recent weeks will be available for selection."

Reda Johnson returned to City training from international duty with Benin on Monday, having missed the 1-0 defeat to Notts County.

Johnson has only figured in 11 of City's 22 games this season and Pressley has urged Johnson to play more football.

He added: "He'll certainly be involved. I made it clear that Reda needs to play more football.

"Not just for this football club but throughout his career. When I brought him here, I told him exactly how we operate at this club.

"From the strength and conditioning to the re-hydration, that will help improve his levels of fitness and that will help him prevent any future injuries.

"He has to fully buy into that to achieve what he can achieve as a player because Reda could be anything."
