'I want to get a third promotion'

Aaron Martin wants to get promoted during his loan spell at Coventry City...

Coventry City defender Aaron Martin admitted his motivation to move to the club is to get promoted from League One.

The 23-year old completed a loan move to the club on Monday which will see him stay at the Ricoh Arena until the end of the season.

Martin made his first start in a City shirt in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth where Lee Carsley's side kept an impressive clean sheet.

The Saints loanee has already tasted promotion from League One and he wants to achieve the same feat with the Sky Blues.

Martin said: "I was really interested when I heard Coventry were looking at me because I knew that the side here are capable of achieving.

"Obviously, I am still only young and I want to develop as a player so getting games is really important. But, I really want to get promoted. There is nothing better than that feeling of success at the end of a season.

"I had two promotions with Southampton but to get another one with Coventry would be absolutely brilliant. I have trained with the players just once but you can tell there is a good core of players here.

"As the side showed against Bournemouth, we took our chances and we kept a clean sheet which is what you need to do to get promoted."

It is the third clean sheet City have kept in the last four games during Lee Carsley's spell as interim first team manager.

William Edjenguele, who has already made 34 appearances this season, was on the bench against Bournemouth as Martin says he will have to try hard to keep his place in the team.

He added: "I have learned a lot this year and even though I haven't played that much, I definitely learned more about all sides of football.

"I am a lot more relaxed when I do play and Nathan (Cameron) was excellent against Bournemouth so that makes it easier to come into a side.

"I want to stay in the side in every game until the end of the season. I have got to make sure I impress the manager each game and work well with my team-mates.

"There is some great quality at the club so I have to make sure I am on top of my game in each match to keep my spot in the side."
