Team: Heracles Almelo
Stadium: Polman Stadion
League: Eredivisie
Manager: Peter Bosz

The 'Heraclieden' have been an Eredivisie regular since 2005 when they won promotion and the Eerste Division title.

They have two Dutch National titles to their name, from 1927 and 1941, but a KNVB Cup title has always evaded them although they went close in 2012 when they were beaten in the final 3-0 by PSV.

Five facts on Heracles Almelo
  • The club are named Heracles after the demigod son of Zeus in Greek mythology.
  • Their nickname 'Heraclieden' comes from the term 'Heraclids' who were the descendants of Heracles.
  • The club share a historically significant connection with Coventry City from 1958, having bought former player Steve Mokone from the Sky Blues, the first ever black African player to play in a professional European league.
  • Heracles' home city of Almelo has a street named after Mokone.
  • Mokone also has a stand named after him at the club's Polman Stadion.
