"This club is my home, I'm so buzzing to be back and I want to help get us back where we belong." Coventry City's Gael Bigirimana

The 22-year old was over the moon to be back at Ryton and believes he is a better player now than when he left back in 2012...

Coventry City's latest signing Gael Bigirimana couldn't hide his delight at returning to the club, calling it "my home."

The Sky Blues secured Birigmana on a loan deal until January from Newcastle United and he returns to the club after originally leaving in July, 2012.

The midfielder was bouncing around the training ground, catching up with some of his former team-mates and staff before he signed the deal to return to the club.

Now, the 22-year old wants to earn his place in the Sky Blues starting XI and is eager to give his all for the club he holds dearly to his heart.

"I'm so pleased to be back and to play for my home club," Birigmana explained.

"I call it my home club because it is where I grew up and started my career. My home club contract wise is Newcastle but Coventry always has a special place in my heart.

"I can't wait tomorrow to see the boys and see the people who weren't in today. I always wanted to play with the players I played with at youth level in a first-team environment, I'm very excited to play with the boys. Conor Thomas is like a brother to me and Ivor and James Maddison I played with too so it would be a fantastic experience.

"The club are doing great so it's a great bonus for me to come while confidence is high. My target is to get games and add whatever the manager needs me to add into the team. We have to continue winning games and by the time January comes, I want us to still be 1st or 2nd - still in a good position. Then we'll see my future from there.

"But one thing I want to put right is that the club was relegated when I was here, so it would be a dream come true part of a team that takes the club back where they belong."

The Burundi international made 28 appearances for the Sky Blues in his breakthrough campaign at the Ricoh Arena in 2012.

Bigirimana joined the Coventry City Academy in 2004 and his progress culminated in him winning the 2011-12 Football League Apprentice of the Year award.

The Newcastle United player spoke about his time on Tyneside and feels he is returning to the Sky Blues a better player than when he left.

He continued: "It's been a difficult last two seasons as I haven't played much. But I believe I left Coventry as a boy and am coming back as a man. I feel like I've learned so much, my move has been worth it can't wait to show the City fans the player that I've become.

"You learn a lot by not being in the situation but outside of the situation. I need games and match fitness but in my head when I was younger with Coventry I used to use more of my energy to run around but now I'm more experienced in my head. I manage games better, of course I want to put a shift in but I know when to move and when not to a lot more now.

"I'm so excited to be here I can't tell you, I'm back home and I want to give my all."
