'I want to play the real Arsenal'

22 January 2014

The City midfielder doesn't just want to go to the Emirates and make up the numbers...

Coventry City midfielder Franck Moussa has revealed he wants to play Arsenal’s ‘strongest team’ ahead of Friday night’s trip to the Emirates in the FA Cup fourth round.

The 24-year old Belgian has made 32 appearances so far this season for the Sky Blues, netting 12 of City’s 55-goal tally in the league this season, which is the third highest in the English Football League, behind Manchester City and Leyton Orient.

The Sky Blues midfielder made his City debut against the Gunners at the Emirates in Capital One Cup last season, where the Sky Blues kept it tight until the hour mark, before succumbing to a 6-1 defeat.

Moussa said: “I hope for the fans and for us that we play against their strongest team. As players we want to test ourselves, so if they were to field their best players, it would be a good opportunity for us to do so.

“However, they’re one of the best clubs in the country, so I’m sure even if their reserve players played, they will still have a lot of quality.

“This is a game we are really looking forward to. Arsenal are a great club with a great stadium, so for us to go there and get a result, it could be one of the highs of our season.”

Since Moussa’s free transfer to City in September 2012, he has become a vital member to the Sky Blues squad, making 69 appearances for the club, starting in 60 of them.

With only six players remaining from the City squad that visited the Emirates last season, Moussa insists the City side aren't just going to make up the numbers.

He added: “This is a game that the club is excited about, and if we go there with our heads right and play the game we can hopefully get a result.

“It’s very important though that we play the game and not the occasion.

“I've played against Premier League opposition before so it’s not an occasion that I’m approaching like a wide-eyed boy. I am looking at the game as though its 11 men who want to win the same way I do.

“We’re not fools. We know they’re top of the Premier League. We know we need to look at how they play, so we have the right tactics to approach a game, even though it is going to be difficult."
