FEATURE: What is the best Christmas present Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has ever had?

24 December 2014

We ask City boss Steven Pressley what Christmas means to him and his traditions on Christmas Day...

With Christmas this week, we thought we would ask some of the Coventry City players and staff what Christmas means to them!

The feature, which was in the PUSB match-day programme at the weekend as City got a 1-1 draw against Fleetwood Town, gives an insight into what makes Christmas for the City stars.

Next up, manager Steven Pressley...

STEVEN PRESSLEY – FIRST-TEAM MANAGER

What is on your Christmas list this year?

Three points and a new pitch which has arrived!

Best Christmas present you’ve ever had?

When I was 10, my father brought me a motorised Go-Kart. I lived in a rural area so I could drive it around. Fantastic present! It is the present I always remember and the one I used the most.

Best present you’ve ever given?

When I was playing for Coventry, I brought my mother a nice bangle from a place in Stratford. She still wears it now. In terms of longevity, that is the best present I’ve ever given anyone.  Money worthwhile!

What are you looking forward to Christmas Day this year?

I’ll fly up to Scotland on Christmas Eve after training and spend the morning with my wife’s family. Then, I’ll spend the afternoon with my side of the family. I’ll have Christmas Dinner at my mother’s which I’m looking forward to. The best thing about it is the company.

First football gift?

My first football gift which I can remember was from my granddad. He owned a sports-shop in Fraserburgh and he gave me a pair of Gola screw-in studded boots. They were incredible. At the time, they were revolutionary. What a present! They suited my style of play, large and clunky!

What traditions do you or your family have at Christmas?

We go to the pantomime. I took my daughter to the Belgrave Theatre to see Aladdin and it was outstanding. The main tradition we have in my family would be going to the German Market and Ice Skating rink in Edinburgh. We’d always spend a night there.
