Coventry City thank volunteers and staff for role in achieving Family Excellence Award

8 May 2014

The club would like to thank volunteers and staff for their efforts which have resulted in a Family Excellence Award from the Football League

Coventry City have thanked staff and volunteers for their efforts in ‘difficult circumstances’ in achieving a Family Excellence Award from the Football League for the 2013/14 season.

The award, started in 2007, recognises the way clubs provide experiences on matchdays to supporters.

The Sky Blues played home matches at Sixfields last season as part of a temporary groundshare but a group of volunteers still worked alongside staff to provide activities and entertainment for families on matchdays.

Mark Hornby, Coventry City’s marketing executive, said: “This really is testament to our matchday staff and the volunteers who work in the Family Zone providing a host of activities, from arts and crafts to Easter egg hunts.

“As recognition of our appreciation, some of those volunteers were invited to present awards at the End of Season Awards dinner on Sunday.

“There is no doubt that these have been very difficult circumstances for everyone but it’s been important to us to make it a good matchday experience for fans attending, especially families.

“We’ve had quite a few groups with children attending games over the course of the season and they have provided positive feedback too with regards to the staff and the volunteers.”
