Coventry City have signed Republic of Ireland Under-17s international Darragh Leahy from St. Kevin's Boys Club (Dublin), subject to international clearance.

The 16-year old will join Jason Farndon's Under-18s group as a first-year scholar and will train with the squad prior to receiving clearance.

Leahy has just been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-17s squad and impressed during a one-week trial at the club in October as part of a recruitment drive at Academy level in the Republic of Ireland.

City's Under-18s coach Jason Farndon has praised the signing and the work of Head of Academy Recruitment Carl McNally.

Farndon said: "We're delighted to get this deal over the line as we've been chasing Darragh for some time since his trial in October.

"He's got a great mentality which fit in perfectly with the group whilst he was over here and he is a great athlete.

"The group currently lacks a natural left-back so we've worked hard to fill that position and make sure every position is covered.

"A lot of credit has to go to Carl McNally who has worked extremely hard to get this deal over the line and formed a good relationship with St. Kevin's Boys Club in Dublin."
