Central defender completes switch to City from Yeovil on an 18-month deal

Coventry City have completed the signing of defender Dan Seaborne from Championship side Yeovil Town.

The 26-year-old has penned an 18-month deal with the Sky Blues that keeps him at the club until the summer for 2015.

Seaborne's professional career saw him rise through the ranks at Exeter City where he was part of the side that won back-to-back promotions from the Conference to League One between 2007 and 2009.

The Barnstaple-born central defender secured a move to Southampton six months into Exeter's League One campaign, again joining a side that secured back-to-back promotions and Saints’ return to the top flight in 2012 before moving to the Glovers ahead of the start of the current campaign.

Seaborne impressed manager Steven Pressley during a one-month loan spell with City throughout December 2013 though which saw him make seven appearances for the club and the City boss said he was delighted to make his stay permanent.

"I'm extremely pleased that we've managed to get Dan over the line because he made quite a impression on us during his short loan spell and he definitely brings strength and physicality to our back line," Pressley said.

"We had to fend off interest from other clubs to get him here so to manage to do that is extremely pleasing and I'm looking forward to picking up where we left off with him before the New Year."
