Steve Staunton
With over 100 caps for Ireland, a Premier League medal, an FA Cup and a stint as manager for the Boys In Green all on his CV, Staunton achieved great things throughout his 20 year career.
Originally in the midlands with Aston Villa, Staunton came to Coventry in 2003. He would stay for two seasons, becoming a regular and a constant presence at the back during that time. All in all he would go on to make 75 appearances for the Sky Blues, scoring four goals in the process.
After this he joined the Saddlers in 2005, on a one-year contract. He would go on to make the final ten appearances of his career with the club, combining his playing role with a job as assistant coach. He held that job until the 16th of January 2005, when he became manager of the Republic of Ireland.
He now works in the media as a pundit.
Clayton Ince
Although best known for his heroics between the sticks with the Saddlers, Ince's previous club was City. Signed in 2005, Ince was reserve keeper for the length of his stay with the Sky Blues, being an understudy to then first choice keepers Stephen Bywater and Marton Fulop and made one appearance.
After going to the World Cup with Trinidad and Tobago, Ince signed for Walsall following a successful trial spell in 2006. He enjoyed four years with the club, making 152 appearances, and becoming a fans favourite.
He was named in the League Two Team of the Year in 2007, and Walsall Player of the Year in 2009. He retired in 2010 and returned to his native Trinidad, where he now works as a coach.
Scott Dann
Currently playing in the Premier League with Crystal Palace, Dann holds two distinctive records: He is the record sale for Walsall when City spent in excess of one million pounds on him in 2008 and he was Birmingham's record buy for a defender when they purchased him from the Sky Blues for three and a half million pounds in 2009.
Dann signed a professional contract with Walsall in 2004 after coming through their academy. Spells on loan at Redditch United and Hednesford Town followed as he looked to gain experience. He finally broke into the team in 2006 and was part of the side that won the League Two title that season.
He continued to impress in League One, so City signed him in 2008. After a hugely successful 18 months and 47 appearances, he joined Birmingham City in 2009, and shone at the back in the Premier League with a Blues team that went 12 games unbeaten in the league, a club record.
In 2011 he went to Blackburn Rovers, before he sealed a move to Selhurst Park in January 2014 on a three and a half year contract.
