The Sky Blue Army have been unwavering in terms of their fantastic support of City this season and we have compiled a top five list of the biggest away followings that the club has taken all around the country.The club had the sixth highest average away attendance in League One and hold second place for the biggest away gate this season out of every League One club (which is a fantastic effort considering the difficult season), which appears on the list below…
FIVE: 1,406 - V Bradford City, Saturday August 3rd 2014 (2-3 LOSS)
The opening day of the season saw the Sky Blues travel to Yorkshire to take on Bradford at Valley Parade and the 1,406 that were there saw one of the most entertaining games of the season.
Twice Bradford took the lead through James Hanson and Alan Sheehan respectively, but twice City equalised thanks to two goals from debutant Reda Johnson. However, Hanson won it for Bradford in injury time, a result that was harsh on the Sky Blues.
FOUR: 1,700 v Crawley Town, Sunday, May, 3rd (2-1 WIN)
The final day of the season was sold out way before Survival Sunday came around and in truth, City could have doubled their attendance if we weren't restricted.
After a poor first-half and Mathias Pogba's header, City rallied to come back from behind and goals from Marcus Tudgay and James Maddison secured survival.
THREE: 1,772 - V Walsall, Saturday January 3rd 2015 (2-0 WIN)
City won their first game of 2015 in style against Walsall and were backed by 1,772 fans, one of the highest League One gates of the weekend.
Jim O'Brien sent City on their way with a 35-yard screamer, before Marcus Tudgay finished things off in the second half with a great header.
TWO: 1,873 - V Notts County, Monday April 6th 2015 (0-0)
A bumper easter crowd saw City clinch a vital point in their bid to stay in League One. City had their chances and could even have won the game in the last minute but Adam Barton's last-minute header was superbly saved by the goalkeeper.
ONE: 3,601 - V MK Dons, Saturday August 23rd 2014 (0-0)
With almost twice the away following at any other ground, MK Dons was the ground where more of the Sky Blue Army went to than any other for the second season in a row.
The game was something of a damp squib with both teams serving up a forgettable 0-0 draw, but the atmosphere generated was something special and City accounted for over a third of the total attendance that day.
