Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray was delighted to secure back to back away wins as the Sky Blues won 2-0 against Fleetwood Town at Highbury tonight.Late goals from Dominic Samuel and Frank Nouble sealed all three points and a crucial win to move up to 18th in SkyBet League One.
Mowbray praised his players for their all round play, as well as getting the lions share of possession on a fast, wet pitch in the Wyre.
"It was so pleasing," he said. "That in the end we got our rewards. Our work rate and desire was top notch and at the end two of our forward players have got the goals.
"We dominated possession at times and you have to be careful as you can lose games like that on the counter.
"But we held our own after the goal and countered up the other end to seal it in front of our fans, who were wonderful tonight."
"We made positive changes, like bringing Samuel Odelusi on and he is such a good impact substitution to bring on, running at players and causing problems.
"His fitness has not built up to 100% yet, it will take time. But when he does he will come in to contention if he keeps making an impact!"
Mowbray reserved special praise for the centre-midfield partnership of Grant Ward and stand-in skipper John Fleck, who both had fine games.
The manager stated the importance of the pair in combination with the fast, passing game that Mowbray is looking to bring to City.
He continued: "Grant had a fine game and he can only get better. His physical attributes are a real bonus, he is fast and gets himself around the pitch quickly and has a great pass.
"You need your centre-midfielders to be real footballers if you are going to play like we do. Fortunately at the moment they look every inch like that.
"The only disappointment is Marcus Tudgay picking up a hamstring injury. It's probably my fault as I have been playing him so much despite his age, I've apologised to him.
"Hopefully we can cover his absence but two forward players have scored goals tonight, which is great to see.
"We've done some work with the forwards this week about making runs and it's got it's rewards tonight. We need to keep going tonight, the season isn't over yet."
