Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray hailed the Sky Blues' 1-0 victory over Colchester as 'huge' and praised his team for another clean sheet.Jim O'Brien's first-half strike was enough to beat the U's and City could have had more goals with chances throughout the game.
Mowbray quickly stated that there was more work to do however, but praised goalkeeper Lee Burge's display, despite saying he was annoyed that the 22-year old was so busy after a dominant first-half display.
"We have to be happy with the result," he said. "But it was nervy with only one goal in it. We had more chances for breathing space but spurned them.
"Colchester gambled and we sat a bit too deep, but we've got the result. There's lots and lots to improve on, we need a bit more control on the ball.
"However the passion and desire of the squad was fantastic. They are desperately wanting to do well for the club.
"Lee Burge has had a good game but it was disappointing that he was so busy. Five minutes after the break and he's had to make two great saves. We need to make sure we're awake at the start of each half."
Mowbray reserved praise for Reda Johnson, who returned to the side after a long term injury lay-off and James Maddison, who came off the bench for his first home appearance of 2015.
He also stated that Tuesday's game against Oldham is even more important now, as a win can put City well clear of the bottom four in SkyBet League One.
He continued: "I thought that Maddison played well when he came on, he gave us some more control.
"Reda Johnson playing means the ball isn't in your half as much as it would be, as he heads everything away!
"He gets his body between the player and the ball and he gets it clear. He plays like an old school central defender.
"Tuesday becomes a massive game and one we are looking forward to. Let's get ourselves clear of the rest so we can breathe easier."
