City boss wants his side to return to 'exciting football' as the Sky Blues prepare to take on Rochdale in SkyBet League One tomorrow…
Coventry City manager Steven Pressley revealed that he wants his side to 'go back to exciting football' as new signing Dominic Samuel looks to feature in tomorrow's League One game against Rochdale.The Scot said that he has been pleased with City defensively on occasions, however he feels that their counter attacking play could be improved.
With City yet to win at the Ricoh Arena in 2015, Pressley wants his side to deal with the expectation of winning in front of the Sky Blue Army better.
"We are a big club playing in a big stadium," he said. "We have to start dealing with the pressure of winning games at home.
"We must not panic. We are close to being a good team. It's not a case of us haemorrhaging goals, we look stable but we need a greater mentality at getting up the other end and scoring goals.
"We have six clean sheets in ten, we have to make the difference up front, especially when it comes to having the desire to get on the end of crosses.
"We have defended well in games on occasion but we haven't had that speed in the counter attack. We want to go back to the exciting football which we had at the start of last season with the likes of Callum Wilson."
Rochdale currently sit in a play-off place, seven points ahead of City. Pressley is aware of the challenge facing the Sky Blues tomorrow and wants the Sky Blues to avenge the 1-0 defeat suffered at Spotland in September.
He continued: "Rochdale have scored more away goals than anyone in this league, so we are aware of the threat they pose.
"In the first game, we should have beaten them. It was a game we dominated but they took the three points. We want to put that right tomorrow."
