HEAD TO HEAD: Coventry City have the edge in the all-time record against Gillingham

15 January 2015

The Sky Blues have won ten more matches than their opponents over the years and beat the Gills in their first encounter in September...

Coventry City take on Gillingham at Priestfield on Saturday in a League One clash and the head to head record makes for interesting reading.

The overall record stands at 24 wins for City, with 14 wins for the Gills. There have been 10 draws between the two, although there has not been one at Priestfield since 1996.

Saturday will see the 24th time that Coventry City have played away to Gillingham in a competitive game.

City have had nine wins and five draws in the previous twenty three matches and away to Gillingham, Coventry City have scored 42 goals and let in 39.

City last won at Gillingham on May 1st 2004 with Richard Shaw scoring in a 5-2 win. Other scorers on that day include Michael Doyle, Andy Morrell and Gary McSheffrey.

There is a strong chance of goals at the game, as there has only ever been one 0-0 draw between the two sides when the Gills have been the hosts, which was in 1953.

City will be hoping to replicate their performance in September when they beat Gillingham 1-0 on their return to the Ricoh Arena. If the Sky Blues do manage to get the win on Saturday it will be their first double over the team from Kent since 1957.
