The Sky Blues striker also praised the side for earning their second consecutive away league victory...

Coventry City striker Gary Madine revealed that he would like to stay with the Sky Blues permanently beyond his loan spell after today's clash with Port Vale.

Madine scored the second goal at Vale Park which clinched a 2-0 win for City and the club's second consecutive away league victory.

The striker admitted he has spoken to manager Steven Pressley about extending his stint with the Sky Blues but nothing is currently in place.

"I've got to think a little further ahead as my loan spell expires soon," Madine said.

"At the end of the day I'm playing for my livelhood. I'm out of contract at the end of the season and I'm really confident that when I start getting a few more chances I'll be able to put the ball in the net more.

"The gaffer has mentioned to me about staying permanently and I'd be more than happy to do that if I'm playing football every week which I want to do."

Madine's late breakaway goal now takes his tally to three goals in seven games with the Sky Blues, scoring in the Sky Blues' last two away victories.

The Sheffield Wednesday loanee admits that whilst not enjoying the lone strikers role, he is willing to play it for the team and praised the side for their endeavour in the victory over the Valiants.

Madine continued: "It was a good away performance. We didn't have the ball as much as we'd liked especially with the players we have. It's a valuable three points and we all dug in. It was a great header from Reda and I was lucky to get my tap in. It's our second away league win in a row and we're building momentum. The defence was excellent, I can't stop putting my arm around Andy Webster, he headed everything and the defence was solid today.

"I've played the lone striker role before and to be honest, I absolutely hate it! But I'm not going to be selfish and I will keep running and running for the team and hope people produce things off me.

"Football is full of highs and lows, I spent 90 minutes sulking and whinging at my team-mates for hitting the ball in the corners and me having to run after it all day! But I was rewarded with the goal and I went into the dressing room to apologise to the lads, but they've all come over laughing so they are happy for me!"
