Sky Blues boss left feeling frustrated with City's second half display as they lose 3-1 against Doncaster Rovers…
Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray was left 'very disappointed' with his sides second half display as they lost 3-1 to Doncaster Rovers at the Ricoh Arena today.Dominic Samuel had given City the lead, but goals from Richie Wellens, Jonson Clarke-Harris and Harry Forrester gave Donny all three points.
Mowbray believes that some of the squad are tired after six games in three weeks, but that there were no excuses for the Sky Blues' performance.
"We didn't do in the second half what we did in the first," he said. "We were good the first twenty minutes.
"We found a lot of success by pressurising them and getting the ball back. But then we stopped doing it after 25 minutes.
"The start to the second half was one of the worst that I've seen from any team in a very long time.
"I've said before let's not get carried away, things can't change overnight and we've had a reality check.
"Individual errors have cost us. It was the same in the Port Vale game where the same occurred. I'm trying to implement a system where players won't become isolated so that can happen.
"We paid the price. Credit to Doncaster, they were a decent team and they've done well."
Mowbray took off midfielder Adam Barton at half time and the Sky Blues boss explained that the switch was down to 'fatigue' and feels that a lot of the players are tired as the rigours of SkyBet League One begin to take their toll.
"I took Adam Barton off at half-time because I thought he was fatigued. He's played a lot of football since I've been here and I thought he struggled through the first-half.
"I'm not making excuses and I don't want to as there are none for that second half performance but a number of players are tired.
"Jim O'Brien who missed out a few weeks ago as he was tires and picked up a niggle. I didn't want another Marcus Tudgay situation with a muscle injury so I took him off as a precaution.
"We now have to go again against Peterborough and get back to winning ways."
