HEAD TO HEAD: Coventry City will look to extend their superior overall record against Colchester United tomorrow in their League One tie

10 April 2015

The Sky Blues have won twice the number of games that the U's have and will look to further improve that number in a crucial clash…

Coventry City take on Colchester United in a SkyBet League One clash at the Ricoh Arena tomorrow and the all time record reads well for Sky Blues fans.

City have won 16 games compared to the U's eight. There have also been eight draws between the two, the last of which coming all the way back in 2013, a 2-2 draw where Carl Baker rescued a point.

City certainly have an edge in recent times, they have only lost once in the last nine games. The last defeat before that was 11 years ago in the FA Cup, when the U's pulled off a shock.

The Sky Blues were in the Championship and Colchester in League Two, but that did not stop the U's winning a replay 3-1 at Layer Road.

Coventry's biggest win came in 2008, when they trounced Colchester 5-1 in the last match between the two at Layer Road.

Scott Vernon gave the U's the lead, but then City moved through the gears. Leon Best, Daniel Fox, Michael Doyle and a double from Elliott Ward gave the Sky Blues a resounding win.
