Coventry City Under 18s Coach Jason Farndon reiterated that his main goal is to produce players to break into the first team after the young Sky Blues made it into the third round of the FA Youth Cup with a 4-3 win against Rochdale on Wednesday.Next up is Barnsley tomorrow, and Farndon wants the side to push on after losing top spot last week, a position they have held for most of the season.
"Wednesday was a good result," he said, "stuff that needs to be ironed out will be ironed out and we will take that into the game against Barnsley.
"We haven't really spoke about losing top spot, but the aim is to win as many games as possible, it is a long season.
"My main aim as a coach is to produce players for the first team. That won't change, but I, like the players am focused on the league.
"Barnsley will be a tough side, they've just been knocked out of the FA Youth Cup by Bradford, so they will be prepared. They are physical, and it should be a good game."
Farndon is blessed with a clean bill of health amongst his players. But with a hectic Winter schedule coming up, he is prepared to give some Under 16s some experience to aid their development.
He continued: "No matter who plays or what formation, there is certain foundations that will always be built into this football club, and they will be brought forward throughout the squads.
"We have a clean bill of health, but we have a lot of games coming up, and we may put some Under 16s into the side, in order to aid their development."
