Dagnall is one of a number of players who have worn the sky blue and red shirts of City and the O's over the years…
Coventry City travel to Brisbane Road tomorrow to take on Leyton Orient in a SkyBet League One clash, with one member of Orient's first team squad playing against his former club. Here we look at three players who have appeared for both teams, starting with a player who rose through the Academy ranks with the Sky Blues...
Andy Whing
The name Andy Whing will go down in Coventry City history. Not for cup final heroics or record appearances, but for scoring the last ever goal at Highfield Road as City said goodbye to playing in Hillfields after 103 years.
Whing came through the City academy as made his debut in 2003. For the next three years he established himself in the first team, and his most famous moment came on that sunny day in May 2005.
City destroyed Derby County 6-2, with Whing's high five celebration after the goal being an image that will be used again and again.
Whing left to join Brighton in 2007, where he enjoyed four successful years, including being named as player of the year in 2009.
He then joined Orient, where he made 19 appearances, scoring two goals. He is now currently at Oxford United, aiming to get the club into League One.
Robbie Simpson
Making his debut at Cambridge United, Simpson quickly caught the eye of then City boss Iain Dowie, who brought the youngster to the club in 2007.
He scored after five minutes of his competitive debut, in a League Cup tie against Notts County. After four goals in 61 appearances, Simpson was transferred to Huddersfield Town in 2009 for £300,000.
After two loan spells with Oldham Atheltic he finally made the move permanent in 2012. A move to Orient happened the next season, however he failed to score in 14 appearances.
Simpson did however appear on the bench in the O's Play-Off Final defeat to Rotherham in May. He is now back at Cambridge United in League Two.
Chris Dagnall
After being best known for his prolific spell at Rochdale, Dagnall is looking to rebuild his career after a few false starts.
Dagnall went to the Dale in 2006 after leaving his hometown club Tranmere. He scored 54 goals in 140 games as the club finally achieved promotion after 41 years in the same division.
He then joined Scunthorpe, and later Barnsley, struggling for goals at each. He joined City on loan in 2013, scoring once in six games, his only goal being in the Sky Blues' famous 3-1 win at MK Dons.
He joined Orient on an 18-month deal in January this year, and has amassed a decent record of seven goals in 30 games. He will be hoping to score against his former employers tomorrow.
