CONNECTIONS: Bristol City v Coventry City - Which former City and Robins scored 173 goals in 228 appearances?

We look at three players which featured for both sides ahead of City's crucial League One trip to promoted Bristol City..

Coventry City travel to Bristol City tomorrow hoping to earn a valuable three points and secure League One safety.

The Sky Blues will be looking for a repeat of the last time they travelled to Ashton Gate in the league, when they recorded a 2-1 win.

Here, we look into some of the connections between the two sides ahead of the weekend's big trip...

Connections

Bobby Gould

Gould started his career at the Sky Blues, and played for the club between 1963-1968, netting 40 goals in 82 league goals. During an illustrious career, he played for Bristol City between 1972/73 and scored 15 times in 35 appearances in the league.  

He managed the Sky Blues in two seperate spells and also managed the Robins' arch rivals Bristol Rovers.




Michael McIndoe

The Scottish midfielder started his career at Luton Town before spells at Hereford United, Yeovil Town and Doncaster Rovers.

McIndoe moved to Bristol City in 2007 and he made 90 appearances for the Robins, scoring 12 goals over a two-year spell.



The Sky Blues signed McIndoe from the Robins for an undisclosed fee and he went on to make 42 appearances for City, scoring one goal.

Clarrie Bourton 

The Coventry City legend started his career at Bristol City after being spotted playing for Paulton United and he made his Football League debut for Bristol at the age of 20.

After a spell at Blackburn Rovers, Bourton moved to City in 1931 where he scored an incredible 173 goals in 228 appearances, including 49 goals in one season.



Bourton returned to Bristol City in the final year of his career and scored 14 goals in 57 appearances for Bristol before managing the side in 1938.
