We look back on two classic matches between the Bluebirds and the Sky Blues ahead of Wednesday's game...

Coventry City face Cardiff City in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night, a game which is live on Sky Sports.

The Sky Blues haven't face the Bluebirds since the 2011/12 Championship season but have shared some classic matches with the Bluebirds.

The Sky Blues travelled to the Cardiff City stadium looking to secure crucial points in City's bid to stay up in the Championship.

Cody McDonald's own goal gave the Bluebirds the lead in the 18th minute. City were given a penalty early in the second-half when Richard Keogh was fouled in the area but Gary McSheffrey put the spot-kick over the bar.



McSheffrey hit the bar with a powerful drive in the 62nd minute before Jordan Clarke secured a deserved equaliser with a fantastic solo goal in the 69th minute.

Peter Whittingham put the home side back ahead in the 83rd minute but in the final moment of the game, loanee Oliver Norwood drove a low shot into the bottom corner to rescue a point for the Sky Blues.

Cardiff City forced a FA Cup third-round replay when Andy Campbell struck in the last minute for the Bluebirds at Ninian Park, despite goals from Lee Mills and Gary McAllister in a 2-2 draw. 

The Sky Blues welcome the Bluebirds to Highfield Road 11 days later and secured a classy victory to go through to the fourth round.



Lee Fowler put City ahead in the 21st minute before Dean Holdworth doubled City's lead after the break.

Former Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd then sealed the victory in the final minute of the game to secure a classy victory for the Sky Blues.
