Clarke signs new contract

Sky Blues full-back signs until 2014 with further year option

Sky Blues full-back Jordan Clarke has signed a new contract with Coventry City until 2014, with an option for a further year.

The 20-year-old right-back is a product of the club’s academy and has already played more than 50 times for the first team, scoring two goals.

He missed much of last season through injury so is delighted to be kicking off the 2012/13 campaign with positive news.

He said: “Coventry is my home club and I really want to help get us back into the Championship so I am delighted to be signing a new contract.

“The manager has shown great faith in me over the past couple of years and this is another sign of that and gives me a huge confidence boost going into the new season.

“We had a good start at Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday night and now we are all looking forward to the league season kicking off.

“The aim ever since we knew we were relegated last season was to get promotion this time around and nothing has changed that.

“This is a great way to start the season for me personally and we are all looking forward to making a good start in the league.”

City boss Andy Thorn said: “We are really pleased that Jordan has signed a new contract.

“He’s a bright young talent and because he’s played so many games for us already it’s easy to forget that he is still only 20.

“It’s a good move all round and I am delighted that he has signed.”
