Sky Blues to visit UHCW Children's Ward to deliver some extra Christmas cheer
Coventry City players are asking fans to buy one extra gift when they go Christmas shopping this year.
The Sky Blues are hoping to make things a little better for the 52 local children, aged from a few months to 17 years old, that will wake up in hospital on Christmas day and to create some special memories for the parents of the 27 sick and premature new born babies receiving life saving care in the neonatal unit.
“As well as visiting the children’s unit in December we wanted to do a little extra,” said midfielder Steven Jennings. “We hope by supporting the appeal we can help make it a success.”

Each year, nurses on the children’s and neonatal unit spend their own time running up to Christmas wrapping donated presents and making stockings to hang on the end of the baby incubators and hospital beds.
There are three simple steps in supporting the Christmas toy appeal!
1st - Decide if you want to donate a gift to a baby, a boy or girl and their age.
2nd - Decide on a gift (for a list of what not to buy go to www.uhcwcharity.org)
3rd - Drop your gift off to UHCW Charity in the main reception of University Hospital or at the CCFC Superstore at the Ricoh Arena, by December 19.
So each gift is given to a child who will get the most enjoyment from it UHCW charity asks that they are not wrapped when they are donated. However, donations of gift wrap are welcome as all presents are wrapped before Santa collects them on Christmas Eve.
Gifts can be of any value and include music and entertainment, books, toys, toiletries, colouring books and puzzles and clothing; the charity is also welcomes gift wrap.
Ten Pin Bowling at Cross Point Business Park, the Harvester in Hinckley, Sainsbury’s Trinity Street, Asda Walsgrave and students at City College have already pledged their support.
