City College Coventry lends sponsorship support to Sky Blues Under 16s

City College Coventry has got behind the Sky Blues under-16 academy team, signing up to sponsor them for the remainder of the 2012/13 season and the 2013/14 season.

The move follows a separate tie-in that is seeing the club’s Academy players using the fully-equipped teaching rooms at City College to deliver educational programmes to its youngsters.

“This is an exciting partnership that will benefit of our students,” explained Paul Taylor, Principal of City College Coventry.

“We are always seeking ways to enrich their studies and through this partnership we can create a whole range of opportunities that would not otherwise be available to us including talks from sports staff and players, a public ‘stage’ for our performing arts students and work experience placements.”

“Our U16s team is an important breeding ground for talent within the club, providing opportunities for the area’s young footballers and nurturing our next generation of players,” explained Gregor Rioch, Academy Manager at CCFC.

“The support being provided by City College means we are able to invest in the training of these players and develop their skills.”

As well as the City College logo being emblazoned on the front of the U16 playing kits the partnership is also presenting an ideal opportunity for City College to engage further with the wider Coventry community.

First team members will attend key events at the College throughout the year and the College’s activities will be promoted during home games as well as during other opportunities.
