Defender Cian Harries talks about his time so far and hopes for the future with Coventry City here...
Coventry City defender Cian Harries spoke exclusively to match-day programme PUSB shortly before the season ended.
Now that the club have confirmed that Harries has agreed terms for his three-year professional deal, we thought we'd relive the interview so Sky Blues fans can get an insight into the latest crop of talents emerging from the Academy - taking you back to the defender's interview on his future with the club!
How did you feel when you were offered a pro deal?
I was absolutely over the moon, all the hard work had paid off but now it's the next step and we all have to work even harder now to make sure we impress.
How long have you been at the club and how did joining the Academy come about?
I’ve been here since Under-14 level, I was released from Aston Villa but joined Coventry City immediately after. It has proved to be a good decision!
Who have been influential figures on your career?
My Grandad has always been there, he comes to every single game home and away and I’ve always said if I became a footballer it would be for him. I've had good coaches as well throughout my team.
How would you describe yourself as a player to fans who maybe don’t know much about you?
I am a ball-playing centre-back, who likes to take the ball out of defence and give the team a platform to play through, whether it be through passing or dribbling.
What has your year been like?
Well I’ve played so much football, I’m grateful for so many opportunities at 18s and 21s level. It's been tough physically as we've played Saturday then Monday for a lot of the season. But the hard-work will stand us in good stead. It's been great working with Jason too.
What are your goals for next year?
I want to impress in pre-season, keep myself in the gaffer’s eye line and make my full debut. Hopefully then I can push on and become a regular in the side, it will take time but I’m willing to work and continue learning. It's a big year for us and I want to help the team move forward in League One.
