Coventry City defender Cian Harries believes the Under-21s were unfortunate not to take a point from the 4-2 defeat against Cardiff City.
Harries, a Wales Under-19 international, played the full 90 minutes at the Cardiff City Stadium against some of his international team-mates.
But the young defender was pleased with the team spirit the Sky Blues showed despite being 3-0 down and has enjoyed playing regularly in the Under-21s this season.
"We were unlucky, we showed good team spirit," Harries said.
"We were unfortunate with the last goal as we were pushing for an equaliser.
"I've played almost every minute of Under-21s and it can only help me with my development. I'm 17 playing against men, it's great to continue learning the game.
"It was also good to see some of my Wales team mates like Robbie Pattern & Abdi Noor. I enjoyed playing in Wales!"
Harries is the captain of the Under-18s side who currently sit second in their league.
The second-year scholars of the Under-18s squad are eagerly awaiting decisions on whether or not they will earn a professional contract with the Sky Blues.
Harries is one of those looking forward to hearing the decision and admits that he is eager to try and impress the Sky Blues' new manager whoever that may be.
He continued: "I'm confident of getting a professional deal, not in an arrogant way but if you don't believe in yourself no one else will.
"I'm looking to impress the new manager as a young player and first impressions are important.
"I've been here for four years and I've got really close with players and staff. The Under-18s is a tight knit group which reflects our league position. We're all eager to hear the decisions but we're not letting that play on our mind, we still want to do well for each other and work for each other despite wanting an individual reward."
